Expert Floor Staining & Finishing Services

Professional application of stains, oils & lacquers

Wood floor staining is a precise process that enhances the natural character of your timber while changing its overall tone and style. Whether you want a deeper, richer colour or a more modern, lighter shade, we prepare the floor properly and apply colour in controlled stages to ensure an even, consistent and long-lasting finish.

Correct Preparation Comes First

Staining and finishing is only as effective as the preparation beneath it.

Where a floor is worn, uneven or contaminated — particularly in kitchens or high-traffic areas, applying new finishes without proper sanding will not produce a consistent or long-lasting result.

For this reason, we only carry out staining and finishing once the floor has been correctly prepared.

Floor Staining & Finishing

Floor staining and finishing allows you to completely change the character of your wooden floors — from subtle tonal adjustments to bold, contemporary finishes.

We use professional, fast-drying stains with a wide range of colours suitable for both traditional and modern interiors. For clients looking for a more natural appearance, we also offer high-quality tinted oils that enhance the grain and create a soft, refined finish.

Achieving a consistent stain relies entirely on the quality of the sanding and preparation. Any imperfections will show through the colour, which is why every stage is carried out with precision and care. Our approach focuses on accuracy, controlled application and avoiding unnecessary re-sanding to protect the long-term life of your floor.

Floor Finishing

Polyurethane lacquer is our most frequently chosen finish, offering excellent durability, low odour and a clean, modern appearance. Being water-based, it dries quickly and is suitable for both residential and commercial floors.

We use high-quality finishing systems to ensure a smooth, even application across all sheen levels — Invisible, Ultra Matt, Matt, Satin and Gloss — with reliable, long-term performance.

Our standard lacquer system includes three full coats, applied with controlled drying times to achieve a consistent, long-lasting finish free from streaks or roller marks. For commercial floors, we apply a strengthened system designed to withstand heavier foot traffic.

Oil Finishes

Hardwax oil finishes remain a popular choice for clients who prefer a more natural, tactile appearance. Oils enhance the grain and tone of the timber while maintaining a warm, organic feel rather than forming a surface film.

We use high-quality oil systems that offer excellent protection, colour depth and long-term performance. For clients wanting a deeper, richer finish with advanced durability, we also apply modern 2K oil systems such as Rubio Monocoat, which bond at a molecular level and provide exceptional resistance with a single coat.

Our standard oil process typically includes two coats of hardwax oil for maximum clarity and protection. For 2K systems, a single engineered coat may be used depending on the desired look and performance requirements.

Why Our Pricing Reflects Our Standards

Achieving an even, consistent colour on wooden floors requires proper sanding, careful preparation and controlled application techniques. We use premium stains and high-performance finishes to ensure the colour settles evenly, enhances the grain and remains durable.

Our pricing reflects the materials, precision and time needed to deliver a rich, uniform finish without streaks or patchiness.

Floor Maintenance

The most common form of ongoing maintenance is a Screen & Seal — a light restorative process that refreshes the finish without fully sanding the floor.

This involves a thorough clean, a light abrasion using a fine mesh screen, and the application of a fresh coat of lacquer or oil, depending on the existing finish.

Maintenance is recommended once early signs of wear begin to appear, typically in high-traffic areas. Acting early prevents deeper damage and significantly extends the time before full sanding is required.

Key indicators that maintenance is due:

  • Loss of sheen
  • Localised colour changes
  • Patchy or uneven wear patterns

If left too long, these issues can develop into grey patches where sanding becomes the only solution. Regular maintenance prevents this and preserves the floor long-term.

Aftercare guidance is provided with every project we complete.
